Shah Newaz Sakib completed his Intermediate from Notre Dame College and obtained his LLB & LLM from the Faculty of Law, University of Dhaka. He joined Law Lab in November 2019 and started working under his Senior Mohammad Shishir Manir. At Law Lab, he was entrusted with collecting and analyzing facts and materials discussing the draconian provisions of The Digital Security Act which culminated in a writ petition, Muhammad Abdullah and others vs Bangladesh, writ petition no. 775 of 2020 that challenged the vires of sections 25 and 31 of the said Act.

Mr. Shah Newaz collected, marshalled and analyzed 500 news reports that documented 18 types of crimes committed by the Law Enforcement Agency and formed the factual basis of a writ petition, Md. Asad Uddin and others, Writ Petition No. 1585 of 2020 which seeks to establish the Police Complaint Investigation Commission- PCIC. He was associated with the research of the following writ petitions and cases: Mohammad Shishir Manir and others, VC Writ Petition No. 04 of 2020. Md. Asad Uddin vs State, Criminal Revision No. 1146 of 2020. Md. Rezaul Kabir Sweet vs Bangladesh, Writ Petition No. 3292 of 2020. Moti Matbor vs State reported in 73 DLR 89 a landmark verdict on Probation.

Mr. Shah Newaz had the privilege of assisting his Senior in preparing, researching and drafting following Death Penalty cases: Abdul Khaleq vs The State reported in 73 DLR 260 (Acquittal). Rasel Miah vs The State, Criminal Appeal No. 6444 of 2019 and Death Reference no. 48 of 2015 (death commuted to life). The State vs Shah Alam Howlader, Death Reference No. 69 of 2015 (death commuted to life). Mostafa Sarder vs The State reported in 27 BLC 377 (Acquittal). Abadur Rahman Putul vs The State, Criminal Appeal No. 713 of 2021 along with death reference no. 113 of 2015 (death commuted to life). Suman Jomaddar vs The State reported in 27 BLC 267 (Acquittal). Mowlana Akbar Hossain vs The State, Criminal Appeal No. 4074 of 2014 (pending before the High Court Division for no less than 09 years).

Mr. Shah Newaz successfully advised a Dhaka University MSS Student in a sexual harassment complaint lodged by his female classmate. The University Disciplinary Board expelled him temporarily and denied him to sit for the semester exam. Mr. Shah Newaz helped him prepare a written reply to the show cause notice and mapped out his defense against the allegation. The Sexual Harassment Complaint Probe Committee headed by Professor Dr. Zeenat Huda found the allegation of sexual harassment to be untrue and recommended the withdrawal of temporary expulsion of the falsely accused MSS student.
